Ok the vampire debate...
I know what I believe but there are mostly 2 types of what people believe vampires are.. One is the retrovirus deal, where its a retrovirus that goes into
Your body etc, you are faster stronger etc and can give birth but you can still die.... Ok the second type is more of a Hollywood version that people seem to believe in... Where vampires do not age, none can be born... But can be turned... Super fast strong etc... There is a mixture of both some people believe in.. That you can be born a vampire you do age, but no one can be turned I have seen a few people claim that one..

There's one kind of vampire; the turned, burns-in-sunlight type. What they can do varies. The "psychic vampires", and the "born vampires", and the "I'm a vampire, but only on the INSIDE, love me!" kids are just goths with mild psychic powers at best.

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
Its a great mystery. Some people say that Cain, Judas, or Longinus was the first vampire, because they pissed off God and blah, blah, blah. Its magic of some kind that puts people in a kind of void between life and death, and is fueled by blood. I'd guess the Atlanteans made them as nocturnal guards and assassins, and they survived the collapse of Atlantis.

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
I believe anything and everything that is supernatural is repressed or severely limited in their capabilities with the current state of the world. Things that once could be done with a thought now require extreme preparation and focus.
I believe that True Vampires are largely repressed. Few are aware of anything vampire about themselves.
People claiming to be Vampires could be partially awakened. But the vast majority are far from being anything near what a vampire once was.
Besides they were nearly hunted to extinction. There are far too many claiming to be for how many were hunted and killed

That's like asking how humans came here. There isn't a FOR SURE thig.
MothDestroyer, those who are vampires are very much aware of it.
Tim, there is info on how vampires are turned (verified by multiple credited sources) on the forum.
Your best bet is to go with what YOU think is more believable. Hollywood vampires don't exist, immortality for a turned vampire isn't possible for preettyy much all of them.

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
The origin of vampires can be argued and theorized again and again... But honestly, as one of the oldest being in existence, their species is one that we can only guess at. For hunters, the basic idea is that like many monsters, there was an original. A Primal. Born from the old creatures that once stalked the earth or as some sort of genetic mutation that randomly happened. That primal spread it out. So... Basically... He or she (most believe the first vampire was a chick, but IDK) was basically the Adam or Eve of vampires.
But, like I said, no one really knows. So the debate goes on and on how the virus was born

I have read that Lilith was the first vampire/succubus etc etc. And the mother of all things like that. I do not believe that's true but it goes alone with your Adam/Eve theory.

Yup, but it most definitely was not Lilith who was the first. I strongly disagree with that theory.

1. No, its not. Creationism/evolution is a pointless debate, because one side has hard scientific evidence, and the other has blind faith. No, this is more like the big bang/steady state argument; there's no real way to know.

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
The origin of Vampire actually CAN be related to the Creationism/Evolution debate because NOBODY has a solid idea of where vampires began. There is one theory that has a minute amount of evidence to support it and the rest is just theory.
Re: Ok the vampire debate...
i think the best people to have "credibility" in the vampire origin debate are paleoanthropologists who study the human origin and evolution. they understand evolution and could properly theorize how vampires came about. it would certainly be more accurate than some crackpot anne rice fan...
but that might be too sciencey for this debate...but i like trying to match a balance between science and magic. that's just me >_>

it's a lot more reliable and is a theory. thus something that has been tested multiple times and not yet proven wrong. it is not a law, but a theory is next in line. it is far more reliable and realistic than religious faith or magic.

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
Lack of information is going to scupper any attempt to create a robust theory of vampiric origin.
Many of a species adaptions are to survive and increase the ability of survival to reproduce, yet when applied to humans there are notable exceptions and behaviours that are counterproductive to that goal. Vampires more so.
To attempt to create a theory, one would have to rigorously test all of the main traits of reported vampirism. There is a lot that appears not to work from an evolutionary perspective.
In fact, from such a perspective, there is more of a case for weres than vamps, partly due to the stronger social elements.
Any developments on that hand written text?

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
i believe vampirism to be a mutation almost like evolution like they think there may be mermaids because in early stages of life some apes may have gone to the sea instead of the land.

Re: Ok the vampire debate...
Pass the bong, dude. Although that theory is kind of nifty, it doesn't make sense. A "mermaid" like that would be like a seal; it would have to come onto dry land periodically, and would have to breathe air. Which would make them easy to find. They would have already been identified if it worked like that. Not to mention the huge improbability of primates making a huge flying evolutionary leap like that, given the relatively recent nature of primates. And THAT'S not even taking into account the unlikely, nonsensical, and bizarre convergence of evolutionary paths needed for this hypothetical "homo selkius" to look like a human with a seal-like lower half.
