Just kind of here
Thought I should join, I had nothing better to do.
It's "Thisnameisbetter" aka "Justawalkin"
What you should know?.... I love bears, wolves, tigers.
Really into bladed weapons.
Studying natural poisons. Aconite and Deadly Nightshade seem fun, as does Bloodroot and Hemlock.
(Nightshade actually has remedial traits as well)
Currently learning southern style kungfu, a close range kungfu. The real stuff, not the wushu show off crap, (none of that stuff is real-real, though some is still impressive
I own several swords and knives.
Reading up on Gandhi lately.
Practicing iron body/iron vest training and iron palm
Oh and chi
Tai chi and Qigong
That makes me feel so good. I can walk into a room and immediately my whole body is filled with a pulsing buzzing sensation.
Sometimes to the point that that the energy accumulates in my hands.
Shit hurts when it sparks XD

Re: Just kind of here
Not long, just started a couple weeks ago and even then I've been slacking off. I need to pick up the pace.
I think I may actually be suffering from "Iron Head" though lol. Getting hit in the head doesn't hurt anymore. At least with punches, kicks and sticks.
No you can't have a turn, I don't need brain damage, I've been lucky so far.
But yeah that's a long story. Slipping on wet flagstone. Wrestling with friends and crashing head first into a table (that was a particularly bloody night), being hit in the head with a spinning 18 pound M1 Garand (also bloody). And just a variety of bad luck.

Both types or just one of them?
I just remember the data base mentioning that some ancient philosopher or something was executed via drinking hemlock
I don't remember reading that it causes bleeding

Re: Just kind of here
It doesn't to the extent of my knowledge. Poison hemlock, also known as Poison Parsley, contains a bunch of chemicals; among them is coniine which is the most deadly. T_T I'm fairly sure that hemlock actually STOPS bleeding. It acts like a more fatal version of Curare, I think. It causes ascending muscular paralysis until it gets to someone's heart and lungs and then they die of lack of oxygen as a direct result. Like only six or seven leaves can be fatal.
Many people were supposedly executed using hemlock, Socrates among them in 399 B.C. No one really knows if it was, but it was written in the Phaedo as such. I seriously doubt that it is a factual account. Meh.

That's the one
Socrates
As for most deadly it was my understanding that Aconite was. Handling it bare handed will kill you. It leaves no trace except for signs of asphyxiation.

No, I meant that the most deadly chemical in it was coniine; not that it was the most deadly natural poison.
Yup. Aconite, queen of the poisons...

Ah, my mistake.
Mhm
I think I would prefer Nightshade personally.

Fascinating!? But they're all so...poison-y.....
I find them to be kind of dull. Yes, you can poison people with poisons, but they aren't much beyond that. And poisoning people is no fun.

Re: Just kind of here
Who said anything about poisoning people
I want to know how these "nice to look at" plants , came to be so deadly. Why the poisons they contain are so varied.
Adaptions? To what ? Animals aren't general harmed by these plants.

Re: Just kind of here
Yes, but it doesn't really have any practical use. I mean, yeah, if you ever get stuck out in the wilderness, you at least have a basic idea of which plants NOT to eat; and should you ever decide to poison someone you have a very wide selection. But if you should never be in either of those situations, and if you ever are you should probably have more knowledge to go on than that, lol.
It's all got a explanation with science somewhere. I recommend reading 'The Encyclopedia of Plants' or something like that by National Geographic. It was one of my favorites on the subject until I lost my copy. >_<

Re: Just kind of here
Poisons have been used for hunting in most cultures. Some tribes still do to this day.
And thanks, i'll look into that when I can.

Poisons? I prefer a knife and a stealthy slice of the throat from the back.

Re: Just kind of here
Mmm not for killing people
And if for whatever reason I decide to sneak up on someone and kill them, it will be messy. I don't do throat slice.
+1 Savage Brutality
Kind of why I prefer nightshade
If I did use it, it wouldn't be in sufficient quantity to kill
just enough to make them hallucinate and become delirious.

A sword and knife collector, eh? Me too! Do you keep you collection to styles from a particular period, or go for whatever pieces catch your eye?
