What is a magus? Empty What is a magus?

I will update and expand on this topic as time goes on, but on the most basic level, a magus is a human being who is privy to knowledge that ordinary occultists, or most beings period, cannot understand. It is meaning without words, wisdom without knowledge.

And power without strength. Study of the occult is not needed to become a magus; indeed, magidom is something that, initially, HAPPENS to you. One cannot seek it out; it finds you, not the other way around. Traumatic incidents often precede the moment when a run-of-the-mill person becomes a magus, their mind alight with the power of High Magic. Why this is is semi-unknown, but I have always thought that it is because people need a short, sharp shock in order to look beneath the skin of the world and see the pure energy of the Source of magic, which has many names (I will just call it the Source, for ease's sake) blazing like the brightest star. A magus can use High Magic. What is High Magic? To be frank, its the stuff of myth and legend. Most magic requires tedious preparation, bargaining with otherworldly powers, and much time, effort, and ceremony for even the simplest effects. High Magic does not. It is raw, unadulterated, and, to be frank, dangerous. To borrow a metaphor, it is the blazing sword that burns all the way down to the pommel.

Usually the culmination of lifetimes of study practice and suffering. A magus rarely just appears. It is something that comes into being when one begins to transcend the factory settings.

Another metaphor: the ability to use a tool without hands or arms.

Theres actually an artist who doesn't have arms and holds the pencil with his mouth

His drawings are so realistic they almost look like photos
